May 2013 Update – Preston Hollow

May 2013 Update –

Preston Hollow Preston Hollow held its Quarterly Meeting April 23, 2013 at the Beautiful Mind Center in Spring Hill. The meeting was well attended with all Officers and several residents. After the Pledge of Allegiance, a Moment of Silence was made to honor the victims and families of the Boston Marathon. A Robert’s Rules of Order publication and a gavel were given to the president by Al Walker, III.

Bill Thompson introduced Hernando County Deputy Spooner. He spoke of crime in the County, advising how to better prevent burglary of a home, as well as taking measures to prevent robbery in a public place. To the women, he cautioned against placing a purse or other valuables in a cart while shopping, and turning away for even a few seconds at which time a criminal could easily escape undetected. In the homes, he recommended that bushes be cut in front of windows to discourage entry at that site. He suggested leaving night lights on outside and to always ensure locking house and vehicle doors. He gave Bill a publication entitled “Residential Burglary” to pass on to the residents. He had suggestions for securing sliding glass doors. If a crime is witnessed, he advised to call the police, not the crime watch person. He talked about the Citizens Academy and encouraged citizens to join.

A homeowner removed the pool cage and erected a fence around the property, a clear violation of the PH Deed Restrictions, and without consulting the Board or ACC before doing so. He has been notified by a personal visit from the ACC to remove the fence and replace with a pool cage to coincide with the original construction of the property.

Two new families attended their first meeting and were welcomed into the Community: Barry and Claudia Buchmiller at 237 Forest Wood Ct., and Don and LuAnn Tribbett at 12240 Forest Crest Ct. By Motion of the Board, two new ACC members were appointed effective this date. They are Tom Dietzel and Ralph Crabtree.

The Preston Hollow Community-wide YARD SALE has been set for Saturday, May 18 from 9 am to 4 pm. The next quarterly meeting of the PHHOA will be Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Beautiful Mind Center beginning at 7 pm.
