A Notice From The PHHOA Architectural Control Committee

To: Our Preston Hollow Neighbors

From: The Architectural Committee

The ACC wants to help our neighbors maintain our PH Community to be a place for which we are all proud.

We would like to remind everyone of a few items that need to be addressed in an effort to maintain our entire neighborhood in the best possible way.

1-Recently, there have been complaints of garbage and recyclables being placed on the curb days in advance or garbage cans left at the curb days after the collection day.  The complaints also include garbage cans not stored out of the street view. Remember to follow our Deed Restrictions. Garbage, trash or recyclables should be placed curbside on designated collections days using suitable containers.  Once emptied, containers should be then returned to the residence in a timely manner and stored in a location that is not viewable from the street.

2- Make sure that your irrigation system is properly maintained and set to the proper day and time of your designated watering day.  If you water on a different day you leave yourself open to a county fine.

3- Please maintain your lawn and landscaping according to our Deed Restrictions.

4- Hedges must be maintained at a height not to exceed six (6) feet.

5- Before you remove any trees (specifically trees larger than three (3) inches in diameter), check with the ACC.  Depending on the tree type and size, a county permit may also be required. So check with the county before cutting down a tree.  For you own protection, make sure that the tree service you hire has the proper credentials and insurance.

6- Please review and comply with the Preston Hollow Deed Restrictions regarding the parking of recreational vehicles such as boats, trailers, golf carts, etc.

If you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact any of the ACC members.

Have a safe and great summer.
Your ACC Committee.

Mariner Blvd Closed!... Big Sinkhole!

Hernando County Sheriff Deputies have closed Mariner Blvd at the intersection of Little Street. A huge Sinkhole has opened up on the South Bound lanes. The fear is that the road will collapse all the way across. Utility crews are out evaluating the situation. Use caution if you are in the area and seek alternative routes if you can. Flooding from Tropical Storm Debby causing problems in Hernando

As the water level continued to rise Sunday afternoon, Shirley Chai's nervousness turned to fear.
At first, Chai figured she would wait out the storm in the manufactured home she shares with a friend in Brookridge, a retirement community off State Road 50 west of Brooksville.

Chai was one of dozens of Hernando County residents who had to be toted, trucked, and even airboated away from homes flooded or threatened by rising water after Tropical Storm Debby hammered the county on Sunday and early Monday. The storm left high water that closed major roadways, flooded homes, washed out roads and opened up sinkholes. Read the whole story here......

Helping Slow Down Speeders In Preston Hollow

Thanks to the Sheriff's Office and anyone on the PHHOA Board that had this speed deterrent placed in our community.

Forecast for Active Mosquito Season

In anticipation of a very active mosquito season, Dr. Guangye Hu, Mosquito Control Manager, wants to remind residents to check their homes, lawns and gardens to make sure they are not creating mosquito-breeding sources. Take a look around your yard and dump out any standing water that has collected in flower pots, toys, lawn furniture or any item that holds water, including ornamental plants. Mosquitoes only need a quarter-inch of water to breed. Clogged gutters or downspouts that retain water are also a mosquito breeding ground.

"Because we had such a mild winter with minimal freezing temperatures, a good number of mosquitoes did not die off as they normally do. That factor, combined with the heavy rainfall and hot weather we are getting now, is going to result in a lot of mosquitoes very shortly", said Dr. Hu.

The staff of the Mosquito Control Department is gearing up to treat water to kill mosquito larvae in DRA's (drainage retention areas), ditches, ponds, creeks, canals, and swamps. They are also putting out mosquito fish as biological control and running spray trucks on the street at night to kill adult mosquitoes. If residents still have mosquitoes after checking their property for standing water, they should call Mosquito Control for staff to come to the area to inspect and treat for mosquito breeding.

Condemned swimming pools from foreclosures, left without pumps running and cages torn, have become a mosquito breeding paradise. Neighbors residing near these pools are encouraged to contact the Mosquito Control Department so that staff may treat the pool to eliminate the mosquito-breeding source.

Certain types of mosquitoes can carry the West Nile Virus, which can be deadly to humans and horses. Residents should use mosquito repellent if they plan to be outdoors both during the dawn and dusk hours. They should also wear long sleeves and long pants in the evening. For more information, please call Mosquito Control at (352) 540-6552, or check the Mosquito Control website at: http://www.hernandocounty.us/mosquito/
