FYI - Regarding Suspicious Activity in Preston Hollow

On Saturday December 24 around 2:30 a resident observed 2 men, 20-30 yrs old, drive down Preston Hollow Dr. in a white Chevrolet pickup truck. They turned around on Forest Crest Ct. and drove back up, on Preston Hollow Dr. and stopped briefly at the house that is for sale on the corner of Forest Wood Ct. and Preston Hollow Dr.. It was suspicious due to the fact that the for sale sign and the air conditioning coil unit are both visible at a glance. Theft of these units are at an all time high and we ask our Homeowners to keep a watchful not only this house but all others in Preston Hollow. Thanks to the very thoughtful resident that reported this.

All Preston Hollow HOA Members:

Reality Check…according to the Hernando County Sheriff's crime website , a theft occurred at the above address on the morning of Dec 12th. From our source at the Sheriff's Office, the central air conditioning unit was stolen, presumably for the recycling value of the copper compressor coils. As far as we know the house is currently vacant like a few others are right now in Preston Hollow. No arrests have been made at this time.

As some of us are away from our home and also travel over this holiday period, let's all be extra vigilant of the comings and goings of strangers here to Preston Hollow.

Wishing all a pleasant and safe Christmas Holiday.

Hernando County has a New Trash Hauler here is some information for you

Republic Services will soon be providing all trash hauling in Hernando County here is a summary of the things you need to know.

They are second-largest provider of services in the domestic non-hazardous solid waste industry. Doing business as Seaside Sanitation, the company has been providing garbage and yard waste services to about 6,000 homeowners in Hernando County since 1979.The new contract is for seven years, with a three-year renewable clause.

  • Will I have to pay more or less for trash collection?
Most all customers in every zone will see a decrease in their monthly bills. Brookridge and High Point residents will see a $1 per month increase.
But customers on the north and west sides of the county will see their bills decrease from $11.49 to $7.74; eastside customers' bills will go down from $11.42 to $8.39; Spring Hill residents, who have mandatory collections, will see their bills go down from $10.54 to $6.14.
  • Will I notice any changes in my service?
Customers won't notice many changes to the current level of garbage service. They will receive twice-a-week pick-ups, once-a-week recycling pick-ups, four scheduled bulk waste pick-ups per year (instead of two under the current contract). Seaside will also provide twice-per-month yard trash pick-ups.
  • What day(s) will my garbage and yard waste collection be picked up?
Garbage will be picked up two times per week every Monday and Thursday, or every Tuesday and Friday. Yard waste will be serviced every other Wednesday.
Homeowners will receive a brochure delivered or mailed to their home sometime in December with their scheduled day of service. All garbage should be placed at the curb by 6 a.m.
  • Who provides the container for garbage pickup?
The resident does and each resident will have to provide a metal or heavy-duty plastic container for solid waste that has a tight fitting lid, handles on the sides and with or without wheels. Residents are allowed up to a maximum of three, 45-gallon containers with a maximum weight of 50 pounds. Republic Services will accept plastic bags containing garbage and yard waste.
  • How will my yard waste be picked up?
Residents need to separate their yard waste from their garbage. Yard waste should be placed in a 45-gallon waste receptacle on your scheduled Wednesday service day or tied in bundles no longer than 4 feet long. Weight limit is no more than 50 pounds.
  • When are the public hearings where I can get more information about the switch?
The first is from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Knights of Columbus, 10470 Spring Hill Drive; the second is from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at the county commission room in the government center, 20 N. Main St. in Brooksville; the final meeting is at 6 p.m. Jan. 5 at the Hernando Beach Homeowners Association, Coast Guard Auxiliary Building, 4340 Calienta St.
