The Hernando County Utilities Department and Citizens for Water invites the public to attend the next session of the 2008/09 Hernando County Water Awareness Series on Friday, February 6, 2009 from 10:00 AM to Noon to be held at the Hernando County Utilities Department, 21030 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34601. The topic for the next session is "How Do I Take Care of This Lawn - Lawn Care 101", presented by Dr. Laurie Trenholm, Urban Turfgrass Specialist, University of Florida, IFAS, Extension. Learn how to take care of your lawn properly with less time, effort and money! Light refreshments will be provided.

From Spring Hill, travel east on Hwy 50 to the East 50 Truck-Route (Cortez Blvd). FYI - Crime Watch in Preston Hollow

In the last couple of weeks we have had two incidents of crime happen here inside Preston Hollow. The first was someone who had his vehicle broken into on Knotty Pine Court and his truck was vandalized. The second happened at the new home being constructed on Forest Crest Court where construction materials were stolen. Please keep and eye out in our wonderful neighborhood and if you see something suspicious please call the police. If you want to get involved in our Crime Watch Team call Randi Rosmarin at 796-7016.

All County Government offices and facilities, except the Northwest Waste Management Facility, will be closed Monday, January 19, 2009, in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. national holiday. The offices and facilities will re-open on Tuesday, January 20th.

The Hernando County Metropolitan Planning Organization will conduct a public meeting of the Transit Technical Committee (TTC), on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at the Hernando County Planning Department Conference Room, 20 N. Main Street, Room 261, Brooksville, Florida. This committee provides technical review on transit operations and policy issues, programs and projects. Topics to be discussed at the meeting include a status report on the transit system, review of transit marketing and outreach activities, and the project kickoff to the Transit Development Plan (TDP) update.

All meetings are open to the public. Any questions concerning this public meeting should be directed to Mr. Dennis Dix, MPO Coordinator, Hernando County Metropolitan Planning Organization, 20 N. The topic for the next session is "It is Easy Being Green!", presented by Dave Bracciano with Tampa Bay Water in Clearwater. The word "green" is being used in many aspects of our lives.
