Holiday Events in Brooksville December 13

Don't miss the very special day coming up this Saturday in Brooksville. What a great family day and opportunity to get in the spirit of the season! The 34th Annual Brooksville Kiwanis Christmas Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. It will be broadcast live on Bright House Channel 622 or you can also watch the livestreaming on the web at www.hernandocounty.us. The parade will be re-broadcast throughout the holiday. Here are a few dates: Dec. 13 @ 7 pm; Dec. 15 @ 9 a.m.and 7 p.m.; Dec. 17 @1 p.m.; Dec. 18 @ 9 a.m. and Dec. 20 @ 7 p.m. - check the schedule at http://www.hernandocounty.us/cr/HCGBSchedule.htm

After the Christmas Parade, don't miss the free Family Christmas Festival from noon to 2 pm at the First Baptist Church of Brooksville on Howell Avenue - right on the parade route.

Three special events will be held honoring the 2008 Great Brooksvillian, Dr. Paul Farmer. A book signing will take place at 1:30 pm at the Main Library where Dr. Farmer will sign copies of his book entitled, "Mountains Beyond Mountains", written by Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Kidder. Books will be available to purchase as well, with all proceeds going to Dr. Farmer's charitable health care organization, Partners in Health.

The Great Brooksvillian Award presentation ceremony will be held at Brooksville City Hall at 4:30. The event will also be videotaped by Hernando County Government Broadcasting for later broadcast.

And finally, a reception in honor of Dr. Farmer organized by his Hernando High School classmates (graduating class of 1978) will be held at 5:30 pm in the parking lot of SunTrust, downtown Brooksville. The monthly Bandshell Bash will hold its special holiday performance at the Community Activity Center, 205 E. Ft. Dade Avenue from 4 pm to 8 pm. The event will feature Lindsay Taylor and the St. Anthony Bell Choir.

The annual Christmas Tour of Yesteryear at the Heritage Museum, 601 Museum Court from 6 pm to 9 pm - cost: $5.00/person.
