Hernando County Receives First Shipment of H1N1 (Swine) Flu Injectable Vaccine

Hernando County Health Department has received its first shipment of H1N1 (Swine) flu injectable vaccine. These first 1,100 doses of vaccine will be distributed to local obstetricians and pediatricians as well as at a Health Department sponsored community H1N1 vaccination clinic this Sunday, Oct. 25 at Nature Coast Technical High School, from 1pm to 7pm.

As additional shipments of vaccine are received, the health department will continue to provide it to doctors and health care providers, emergency medical workers, clinics and to the community through community based vaccine clinics.

Those populations that are targeted for this first supply of vaccine are:
*Women who are pregnant
*Caregivers and family members of infants 6 months of age and younger
*Persons 6 months to age 24
*Persons 25 to 64 years old with chronic medical conditions
*Healthcare and emergency medical services workers who provide direct patent care

The health department clinic on Oct. 25, will provide 750 free vaccinations, on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets for vaccinations will be distributed beginning at 12:30pm the day of the clinic. Tickets are numbered and include time slots, so residents can wait for the vaccination or return at their appointment time. Nature Coast Technical High School is
located at 4057 California Street, Brooksville, 34604. Please enter the school using the entrance behind Chocachatti Elemenetary School on Powell Road. This entrance will take residents to the back side of the high school where they can park. The clinic will be held in the cafeteria.
