As part of Hernando County’s
2012-13 Water Awareness Series, the Hernando County Utilities
Department invites the public to the fourth session to be presented
Friday, February 8, 2013, from 10:00 AM to Noon. Everyone is welcome to
attend this important educational seminar, which will be held at the
Hernando County Utilities Department, 21030 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville,
FL 34601. Light refreshments will be provided. The topic will be:
Florida Native Plants and What’s Bugging You?
This
program will help inspire your inner FLORIDIAN to discover the
fantastic and adaptable Florida Native Plants that can provide so much
interest and fun to your current landscape. Presented by Rita Grant,
Hernando Chapter of Native Plant, Florida Master Gardener. THEN—don’t
miss What’s Bugging You? Presented by Dr. Stacy Strickland, Director,
Hernando County Extension Service. Dr. Strickland will help you identify
“the good the bad and the ugly “ bugs that may be in your landscape.
This will be a very entertaining program for you to learn all about
Integrated Pest Management (IPM). What is that? Come to the program and
find out!!

FYI - United Communities January 2013 Meeting
United Communities of Hernando County is having their January General Membership Meeting on Monday the 28th at seven o'clock. They meet at the Silverthorn Community Center which is located at 4400 Mallard Lake Dr. Spring Hill, Fl. 34609. Their guest speaker will be Hernando County County Administrator Leonard Sossamon who give a presentation followed by a question and answer period after the presentation. This will be a very informative meeting and all residents of Hernando County are welcome to attend.

All Hernando County government offices will be closed Monday,
January 21, 2013,in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
The
Hernando County Solid Waste Management facility will remain open on
January 21st. The east and west solid waste convenience centers are
always closed on Mondays.
PLEASE NOTE THAT REPUBLIC SERVICES WILL
BE PROVIDING TRASH COLLECTION SERVICE ON MONDAY, JANUARY 21ST, SO IF
MONDAY IS YOUR TRASH DAY, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT OUT.
All County offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 22nd.
