Hernando County Back to Twice Per Week Watering Restrictions Until Further Notice
The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) allowed the Phase II water shortage restrictions to expire on June 30th. The SWFWMD Governing Board voted to lift the once-per week watering restrictions in response to significant improvements in aquifer and river levels as a result of this winter’s above-average rainfall. This means that the district will allow residents to return to the twice-per-week watering schedule.
Local governments have the option of continuing the once/week restriction or returning to twice/week for their residents. Hernando County Utilities staff plans to present the matter for consideration by the Board of County Commissioners’on Tuesday, July 13th.
In the meantime, until official action is taken to the contrary, Hernando County will return to the twice-per week watering schedule as authorized by SWFWMD. All watering must be done before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m., even-numbered addresses on Thursday and/or Sunday and odd-numbered addresses on Wednesday and/or Saturday.
