2008 Hurricane Expo
April 22, 2008

Hernando County Emergency Management in cooperation with Weeki Wachee Springs, Hernando Today / Tampa Tribune, WFLA Channel 8 and the American Red Cross will host a fun-filled family-oriented Hurricane Expo at Weeki Wachee Springs on Saturday, May 31st from 9 AM – 2 PM.

Admission to Weeki Wachee Springs will be free that day for the Expo and the River Boat Ride, Mermaid Shows, & Animal shows. There will also be music, games and face painting for kids, contests and lots more! Food and cold drinks will be available.

WFLA News Channel 8 Meteorologist Steve Jerve will discuss how families can be prepared for the upcoming hurricane season.

This year’s Expo theme is "Mitigate in 2008". There will be presentations and information available on home preparation, preparing a disaster supply kit / family plan, proper insurance coverage, and having an evacuation plan for pets and animals during severe weather.
